Jodhpur, Apr 25 (IBNS): A court in Jodhpur on Wednesday is all set to deliver its verdict in a rape case involving self-styled godman Asaram.

The court will decide whether he was guilty in raping a 16-year-old five years ago.

Self-styled godman Asaram Bapu has been in jail since September 2013.

The verdict in the case will be announced from inside the jail premises, as mandated by the Rajasthan High Court, reported The Indian Express.

Security has been beefed up in the city by keeping in mind the verdict of the case.

Rajasthan Police have imposed section 144 in Jodhpur till April 30 as a precautionary measure, reports said.

The self-styled godman runs 400 ashrams across the country.

The father of the girl has told NDTV that they are waiting for justice.

"My daughter has done her duty. She stood by her testimony throughout the trial," he told NDTV.

By keeping in mind the large follower of Asaram,  a special courtroom has been set up inside the Jodhpur Central Jail (JCJ) to deliver the verdict in the case.

Security has been tightened across several states in India.
