Assam: BJP’s Chief Ministerial candidate files nomination papers

Guwahati, Mar 16 (IBNS) : BJP’s Chief Ministerial candidate of Assam Sarbananda Sonowal on Wednesday filed his nomination papers for the Majuli assembly constituency in Jorhat district.

Sonowal, who represented the Lakhimpur constituency to the Lok Sabha, filed his nomination papers at SDO office, Majuli.

Accompanied with MP’s Rameswar Telli, Kamakhya Prasad Tasa, BJP leaders Dr Mahendra Singh, Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma, the BJP’s Chief Ministerial candidate said that BJP will form the next government in the state.

The Congress has fielded former minister and present MLA Rajib Lochan Pegu as the party candidate in the constituency against Sarbananda Sonowal.

On the other hand, BJP’s candidates of Chatia, Rangapara, Sonari, AGP’s candidate of Dergaon constituency filed their nomination papers on Wednesday.

The assembly poll in the state will be held in two phases on Apr 4 and Apr 11.
