Assam: BSF apprehend drug peddler with huge quantity of contraband drugs
Guwahati/IBNS : The Border Security Force (BSF) personnel have seized huge quantity of contraband drugs and apprehended a drug peddler in Assam’s South Salmara district along Indo-Bangladesh border.
The troops of Guwahati Frontier of Border Security Force Ex-06 Bn BSF had seized Yaba tablets (R-7) 8000 numbers and cash amount of Rs 35,000 from bordering area of Kaleralga Pt-1 village in South Salmara district on Friday.
Acting on a tip-off, the troops of BOP Boreralga carried out a special operation near international border and apprehended an Indian national along with 8000 Yaba tablets and cash amount of Rs 35,000, while he was trying to smuggle from India to Bangladesh.
The apprehended drug peddler was identified as 28-year-old Kabel Ali.
An FIR is being lodged at Kharuabanda police station against the apprehended person under NDPS/Drug and Cosmetic Act and he along with seized items was handed over to police for further legal action.
Keeping in view the vulnerability of border, heightened activities of the smugglers and anti-national elements on the border, BSF troops are always alert towards the issues of trans-border crimes & illegal infiltration and are making all out efforts to prevent commission of such crimes.
