Assam govt suspends 116 teachers

Guwahati, Aug 23 (IBNS): The Assam government has suspended 116 teachers after they were caught adopting unfair means while appearing in the B.Ed, DEl.Ed examination conducted by the Krishnakanta Handique State Open University.

Assam Education Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Wednesday said that these teachers were rusticated from the examination halls after they were caught while adopting unfair means.

“Among the suspended teachers, 93 are regular teachers under Directorate of Elementary education, 22 are contractual teachers under Sarva Siksha Abhiyan (SSA) and 1 under BTC sixth scheduled area,” Sarma said.

The Assam Education Minister said that, the departmental inquiry also being initiated against the teachers.
