Assam Jailbreak : Four KPLT cadres escape

Guwahati, June 23 (IBNS) : Another jailbreak incident happened in Assam when four cadres belonging to the Karbi Peoples' Liberation Tigers (KPLT), who are serving prison terms at a prison in Karbi Anglong district, managed to flee on Monday night, officials said on Tuesday.

The militants broke the iron railings of the district jail in Diphu and managed to flee from it.

Jail authorities said the guards of the jail found the broken iron railings.

The fled inmates were identified as Joy Tisso, Dutta Engti ,Charan Sing Teron and Harison Teron.

Following the jailbreak incident in Diphu, Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi on Tuesday directed Assam DGP Khagen Sharma to strengthen security in all the jails across the state.

Gogoi asked the top police official to make a probe into the jailbreak incident and take stern action against the officials who are responsible for the serious security lapse.
