Guwahati, Aug 29 (IBNS) : An Army jawan was injured in Assam’s Chirang district, when suspected National Democratic Front of Bodoland (Sangbijit faction) militants had attacked on a camp of 18 Mahar Regiment on the wee hours on Friday, police said.

Suspected militants had lobbed four hand grenades targeting the Panbari COB 18 Mahar Regiment, in which two exploded.

In the militant attack, an Army radio operator was injured and he was rushed to Guwahati for treatment.

“Suspected militants had lobbed the grenades from a school campus adjacent to the Army camp,” Chirang district SP Ranjan Bhuyan said.

Later, the Army bomb squad had destroyed all unexploded grenades.

The Army and the police had launched search operation against the militants in the area.
