Guwahati, Aug 26 (IBNS): In the wake of monsoon, the Changlang battalion of the Assam Rifles in Arunachal Pradesh, under the aegis of DAO Division in conjunction with DHFL Pramerica Co Ltd, launched the “Magic Monsoon” drive.

This combined civil-military initiative is dedicated to the good of the people especially children in the insurgency-infested district.

In a series of programmes carried out over a fortnight, the security forces reached out to numerous schools in the district to distribute varied stores ranging from stationery to umbrellas to young students in the area.

This Samaritan effort is the outcome of months of planning between security forces and DHFL Pramerica, a corporate enterprise dedicated to such noble endeavors.

Kohima based Defence PRO Colonel Chiranjeet Konwar said that, the drive was conducted in four phases and addressed Bapuji Govt Primary School, Old Changlang Primary School, Kenghu Government Primary School and D School, of Changlang district.

During the event, the Changlang battalion distributed stationery, mosquito net, waste baskets, umbrellas, caps and other items to 160 students in these schools.

“This Samaritan initiative by the security forces and insurance company was graciously thanked by the teachers with staffs quoting -- this is definitely a precious token of love for some of the remotest schools in the district,” the Defence PRO said.
