Assam Rifles recover gold bars worth Rs 1.50 crore from Manipur’s Moreh

Guwahati, Oct 10 (IBNS): The troops of Assam Rifles recovered gold bars worth Rs 1.50 crore from Chanphai village jungle area in Manipur’s Moreh along Indo-Myanmar border on Thursday.

According to the reports, on receiving a specific input about transportation of illegal items in the area, a team of Assam Rifles launched operation in the area.

At around 1 am, the security personnel noticed that an unidentified person was coming towards the area and when the security personnel asked him to stop he fled from the area and threw away an object wrapped with a towel.

Suspecting about an explosive object, the Assam Rifles personnel immediately cordoned the area and while searching the object, found five pieces gold bar worth Rs 1.50 crore.

The Assam Rifles personnel also conducted search operation in the bordering area but no arrest has been made.
