Assam Rifles seize illegal goods worth Rs 76 crore in Manipur’s Moreh

Imphal, Jan 2 (IBNS): Continuing its operation against the anti-social elements, illegal drugs traffickers, Assam Rifles has seized illegal goods worth of Rs 76 crore in Manipur’s Moreh area, a bordering town of Indo-Myanmar border.

According to the reports, the Assam Rifle which has been posted at Permanent Motor Vehicle Check Post at Khudengthabi of Imphal Moreh route (NH-102) seized illegal goods worth of Rs 75.97 crore.

A top official of Assam Rifles said that, during this period, the Assam Rifles troops have seized 48.536 kg gold worth Rs 14.56 crore, 689110 numbers of WY tablets worth Rs 34.45 crore, 2236 kg brown sugar worth Rs 8.94 crore, 3.202 kg heroin worth Rs 16.10 crore and two Tokay Gecko worth Rs 2 crore from the Imphal-Moreh road.

“All seized illegal goods were being illegally transported from neighbouring Myanmar,” the official said.

Imphal-Moreh route (NH-102) is one of the routes used by drug peddlers for illegal businesses.
