Assam terror attack: Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal condemns

Guwahati, Nov 19 (IBNS): Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Saturday condemned the terror attack in his state which left at least three army personnel killed.

At least three army personnel were killed and four others injured in an ambush by suspected militants of Paresh Baruah- led ULFA(I) in Assam's Tinsukia district on Saturday morning.

The incident took place in the Dhekiajaan area inside the Burhi Dihing reserve forest on  Digboi-Pengeri road in the Upper Assam during  army operation against  militants.

The Chief Minister tweeted: "I strongly condemn the cowardly terror attack on Army Personnel at Pengeri."

He said: "My heartfelt condolences to the families of the martyred soldiers. I pray for speedy recovery of injured jawans."

Sonowal said: "Our Government will take firm action against terrorism. The perpetrators of this crime will be identified and brought to justice."

According to  reports, the suspected militants  triggered several IED explosions and attacked army men with rocket launchers and mortars.

Two army vehicles were damaged in the attack.

The slain army jawans have been identified as  Multan Singh, Rishipal Singh and Narpada Singh of Kumawun Regiment.

The injured army personnel- Vikram Chand, Manoj Sing, Satyendra Singh and Virendra Singh were rushed to the  nearest army hospital at Dinjan.

Top army, police and para military officials  rushed to the remote area and launched an operation against the militants.
