Bangladesh communal violence: ISKCON Kolkata members demonstrate outside Bangladesh Deputy High Commission

Kolkata: The International Society for Krishna Consciousness members in Kolkata on Sunday demonstrated outside the Bangladesh Deputy High Commission office here against the recent attacks on its Noakhali temple on Friday.

Singing 'kirtans' and chanting ‘Hare Krishna’, the ISKCON members participated in a candlelight march in front of the Bangladesh Deputy High Commission.

The members demanded action against the miscreants involved in attacking the Noakhali temple which even led to the death of a person.

They were seen holding posters in their hands where they sought justice and demanded protection for Hindus in Bangladesh.

Speaking to Indian news agency ANI, Radharaman Das, Vice Pres, ISKCON Kolkata said: "There was dance of death inside ISKCON temple on Friday."

He said: "ISKCON will continue to protest outside Bangladesh High Commissions across the world until the guilty are punished."

The ISKCON on Saturday said its temple in Noakhali area of Bangladesh was attacked when one of the devotees was killed on Friday, a day which marked the end of Durga Puja.

The deceased person was identified as Partha Das.

The alleged desecration of the Quran at a Dugra Puja venue in Cumilla on Wednesday resulted in vandalism of Hindu temples and clashes between vandals and police in Bangladesh.

Several other districts, including Chandpur, Chittagong, Cox's Bazar, Bandarban, Moulvibazar, Gazipur, Chapainawabganj, and others, have seen similar situations in the last few days.
