Bangladesh hands over top ULFA leader to India

New Delhi, Nov 11 (IBNS) Top United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA) leader Anup Chetia has been handed over to India by the Bangladesh government, reports said.

Chetia, one of the founding member of the separatist group was hiding and operating from Bangladesh for over a decade.

Earlier,  Bangladesh had put off all claims by India to hand him over to the country but the new move from the neighbouring country came after Prime Minister Narendra Modi's intervention.

The separatist leader is likely to play a major role in giving out details about the ULFA's finances and support base in other countries.
