Kolkata, Dec 21 (IBNS): Only 13 days after an eight-year-old girl was raped by a middle-aged man, a West Bengal court on Tuesday found the accused guilty and sentenced him to 10 years in prison, reports said.

According to reports, a nearly 50-year-old man allegedly raped a minor girl next door in Krishnanagar's Najiapara area under Kotwali Police Station limits in West Bengal's Nadia district on Dec 6.

Police held the accused, Bijan Sil, on that day and filed a charge sheet against him before a local court in Krishnanagar in the next week.

After nearly two weeks of hearing, the court found him guilty on Tuesday under section 10 of POSCO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) Act and sentenced him to ten years in prison along with a 10,000 rupees fine.
