Bengal nun rape case: Main accused arrested in Kolkata
Kolkata, June 18 (IBNS): One of the main accused in the sensational gang-rape of case an elderly nun in West Bengal's Nadia district has been arrested from Sealdah railway station in Kolkata.
The accused has been identified as Nazrul aka Nazu, a 28-year-old Bangladeshi.
He was arrested from Sealdah station while he was getting down from a local train on late Wednesday evening, reports said.
Nazrul would be produced at the Ranaghat court.
This is the sixth arrest in the case.
The septugenarian nun was raped after a gang of seven dacoits barged in and looted Rs. 12 lakh and other valuables from a Convent in Gangnapur village of Nadia district on March 14.
The Sister Superior of the convent was admitted to a hospital in Ranaghat and was discharged on March 20.
The incident triggered a massive outrage among the locals and sent a shockwave across the country.
The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) took suo motu cognisance of the case and had issued a notice to the West Bengal government.
