Bengal police deny Amit Malviya's allegation on Sandeshkhali, calls it 'most shameful'

Kolkata/IBNS: The West Bengal Police Thursday dubbed BJP spokesperson Amit Malviya's allegation that police have forcibly taken away a few women from Sandeshkhali as fake.

"Falsehood at its most shameful" the West Bengal Police posted on its X (twitter) account.

''A video was posted today by @amitmalviya, claiming that a few women from Sandeshkhali have been forcibly taken away by the police. Nothing can be farther from the truth!'' the statement said.

"The facts are, a lady, a resident of Sandeshkhali had gone along with 4 other local ladies to depose before the Ld magistrate of Basirhat court in connection with a case, in which she is the complainant. The I.O of the case had escorted them to the court to ensure their safety and security," the post said.

Police also attached the woman's version in a video.

"Strict legal action is being initiated against such deliberate falsehood with the blatantly ulterior motive of maligning the police," the WB Police said.

This comes after Malviya alleged that women who complained against the "tyranny of Shahjahan Sheikh and his men in the region, before the media and the Governor, have been forcibly taken away by WB Police".
