Varanasi/UNI: The students of Benaras Hindu University (BHU) on Monday staged protests against police action on students of Jamia Millia Islamia University, who were protesting against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA).

Several student unions, including the Bhagat Singh Student Morcha and the All India Student Association, staged protest against the UP police at the main gate of the varsity, here.

Students raised slogans ''stop ruining AMU, Jamia and JNU'' and ''police atrocities will not be tolerated,'' during the protest.

One of the protestors, Sangeeta Kumari alleged that actions of UP police in Jamia University has cleared that Central government will go to any extent to destroy the elite educational institutes of the country.

Another student Feroz said the BHU students were standing with Jamia, AMU and JNU students and will protest on a largescale if the government continues its dictatorship.

The agitators alleged that CAA was imposed for political mileage and it will harm the social harmony of the country.
