Patna, Oct 3 (The Bihar Post/IBNS): The RJD on Monday staged a dharana and protested against chief minister Nitish Kumar for opposing party leader Mohammad Shahabuddin's bail in the Supreme Court which led to his fresh confinement.

The RJD, which is led by Lalu Prasad, is a coalition partner in the ruling Nitish Kumar government in Bihar.

Hundreds of people led by the RJD took to the streets in Siwan, the home town of Shahabuddin and sat on dharna to oppose the Nitush Kumar government action against the party leader.

Angry protesters not only shouted slogans against the chief minister but also targeted the media persons who went to spot to cover their programme.

The prompt action by the police saved the situation form taking an ugly turn, reports said.

Shahabuddin was sent back to jail last week after his bail by cancelled by the Supreme Court. He enjoyed freedom for barely 20 days

He had come out of jail on September 10 after the bail was granted by the Patna High Court.
