BJD govt promoting goonda raj, spreading rumours against me: PM Modi

Bhubaneswar, Apr 16 (UNI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday accused the BJD government led by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik of spreading lies and rumours against him

Addressing the Vikash Sanklap Samabesh here this evening, Modi said while on one hand, the BJP government was working with the principles of Sabka Sath Sabka Vikash, the Odisha government was spreading lies and rumours that the BJP was halting schemes.

Modi said, "We do not halt schemes but we stop corruption and leakage.’’

The Prime Minister alleged that the BJD government was promoting Goondaraj in the state.

He said in Khordha BJP leader Manguli Jena was murdered to capture power.

He appealed to people to give BJP a chance to free the state from the goondaraj.

Expressing his grief and sympathy to the family member of the BJP leader, Modi said the BJP government will ensure the punishment to the perpetrators of the crime after it comes to power.

He appealed to the people not to be afraid of the BJD goonda and criminals saying “Modi will stand like a pillar with you “and urged the people vote for a change.

"There is a need to change the government and the people of Odisha have taken a decision to change the government and no one can stop it," Modi said.

He urged people to vote for BJP for both the Lok Sabha and Vidhan Sabha as double engine of vikash (development) needed both in Centre and in Odisha.

The Prime Minister said desired development could not be done in Odisha during the last 20 years even though the central government has given its full cooperation to the state.

He said the central government had provided Rs 3 lakh crore in five years for infrastructure development in Odisha.

"This was five times more than what the previous government had provided. But despite this development as expected could not be done," he said.

“If I can change Hindustan I can also change Odisha," Modi said, adding that it is high time to give chance to those who can ensure development of Odisha.

Modi said he will show what real development is when BJP is elected to power in Odisha."We will speed up development manifold,’’ he said.

He accused the BJD of depriving the people of Odisha of availing the benefits of many central government schemes and announced that the Ayushman Bharat scheme will be implemented in Odisha after the BJP came to power in the state.
