BJD not a part of Mahagatbandhan: Naveen Patnaik

| @indiablooms | Jan 09, 2019, at 02:51 pm

Bhubaneswar, Jan 9 (IBNS): Odisha chief minister and BJD president Naveen Patnaik on Wednesday said his party would not be part of the Mahagatbandhan (grand alliance) against the BJP in the next general elections.

"As far as the Mahagatbandhan is concerned, the Biju Janata Dal is not a part of it," Naveen told reporters.

"We continue with our policy of equi-distance from the Congress and the BJP," he said.

When asked about his stand on the grand alliance during his visit to New Delhi on Tuesday, Naveen had said his party would take some time to think over it.

Telangana chief minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao had met Naveen recently on the issue of forming a non-Congress, non-BJP alliance ahead of the next Lok Sabha elections.
