BJP a party 'full of goondas wielding sticks': Mamata
Goaltore, May 5 (UNI): Trinamool Congress (TMC) supremo and chief minister of West Bengal Mamata Banerjee on Sunday said Narendra Modi had "experience in riots" and that the BJP was a party "full of goondas welding sticks".
Addressing a public meeting here in Jhargram district, Mamata said: “The BJP is only interested in instigating riots. We don’t allow that in Bengal.”
"Narendra Modi has experience in riots because he done a lot of riots in Gujarat. The BJP will lose across the country. All like-minded parties will come together and form a government at the Centre," she said.
Accusing the BJP of having failed to curb Maoist violence in the states ruled by the party, Mamata said: "In Bengal, peace reigns in Jangalmahal now."
"This is an election for the formation of a government at the Centre."
“We have to ensure that the BJP is ousted, otherwise more atrocities would be committed. The BJP is full of goondas welding sticks,” she said.
“Ask Narendra Modi what he has done for you. He has just gone on trips to various countries,” the TMC supremo said.
"The BJP government has given neither roti nor kapda or makaan, the basic essentials for survival," she said. “Only Rs 100 crore has been allocated for the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao scheme by the Centre. It is so less. We have spent Rs 7,000 crore for the implementation of Kanyashree scheme. Ayushmaan Bharat is also a flop."
“I have been with you in times of need. During the recent cyclone, I had camped in Kharagpur. The state government will help you in every way possible. We had helped the people profusely during the floods in earlier years too,” the chief minister said.
“We have done a lot of work for Adivasis. We have recognised Ol Chiki script. We have formed the Santhal Academy. Santhali-medium schools have been set up,” the chief minister said. “Our government works for the good of all people, irrespective of religion, caste or creed. Every beneficiary family has received at least some direct benefit from the state government.”
