BJP completes seat sharing with Bihar allies, to fight unitedly against JD(U)-RJD-Congress
"BJP and our three alliance partners have finalised seat sharing. We are happy," party President Amit Shah said while addressing a press conference.
"The four parties have decided to fight the elections in a united way. We will work together," he said.
"The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) will win the elections and take Bihar on the path of development," he added.
Shah said according to the seat sharing plan that has been decided following days of negotiations with the allies, the BJP will contest in 160 seats, Ram Vilas Paswan's Lok Janshakti Party in in 40, the Rashtriya Lok Samata Party in 23 and Hindustani Awam Morcha (Secular) of former Chief Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi in 20.
Initially, the BJP had planned to contest in 165 of the states's 243 seats leaving the rest for its allies. However, consistent pressure first, by the LJP and then RLS and HAM for greater share in favour of them led to change in the composition.
The Bihar elections will be held in five phases in October-November.
Referring to the pull out of the Samajwadi Party from the JD(U)-RJD axix, the BJP President said the so called grand alliance has broken.
"There development where there is corruption and 'jungle raaj," sha said.
Contesting the figures of development being cited by Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, the BJP President said: " I would like to tell people that the figures he is giving are till the time BJP was in government in Bihar with Mr Kumar."
He also attacked Nitish Kumar saying he doesn't have the courtesy to acknowledge the special package for the state announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
"The Prime Minister gave Bihar a special package but the Chief Minister did not have the courtesy to even thank him."
Shah said the Prime Minister will campaign for the BJP-led alliance in Bihar.
