'BJP is at the end now, God will use his broom to clean them': Arvind Kejriwal after Chandigarh mayoral polls defeat

Chandigarh/Delhi/IBNS: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal Friday attacked the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) over Chandigarh's mayoral polls claiming that the world's largest party was caught red-handed while "stealing" votes in a "small mayor election".

"The election shows that it is their end now," he said. Reciting a verse from the Geeta, he said that when the pot of sin is full, then God uses his broom to clean it.

The AAP supremo said allegations were often levelled that the BJP won the elections by using "unfair and unconstitutional means", but till now no proof of this was found.

"But they provided evidence this time for the Chandigarh mayor elections, and this means their rule and politics are about to end," he added.

On Tuesday, Bharatiya Janata Party candidate Manoj Sonkar won the Chandigarh Mayoral polls against Congress-AAP projected candidate Kuldeep Tita.

The Congress-AAP combine cried foul, alleging that eight votes won by their candidate were declared illegal "fraudulently" by the presiding officer.

The BJP won 16 of 35 seats while eight votes were declared invalid.

Meanwhile, Days after Arvind Kejriwal alleged that the BJP was attempting to "buy" seven AAP MLAs to destabilise his government, the Delhi Police Crime Branch landed at the Chief Minister's residence earlier in the evening to serve him a notice in the case, media reports said.

Kejriwal had alleged that the BJP made an offer of Rs. 25 crore each to buy out seven of his MLAs.

The BJP had filed a police complaint in the matter. The Delhi Police then reported the matter to the Union Home Ministry.

Unable to win elections in Delhi, the BJP is hatching "dirty conspiracies" to topple Arvind Kejriwal's government, the AAP had alleged.

Kejriwal is also facing heat from the Enforcement Directorate, the central agency investigating the alleged corruption in the Delhi liquor policy case.

He has been summoned five times and has skipped them all, claiming that the summons were illegal.
