BJP leader approaches police seeking action against Amitabh Bachchan over KBC question

Mumbai/IBNS: A Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader has sought a police action against acting legend Amitabh Bachchan over a question asked by him in quiz show Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC) on television, media reports said.

In a complaint with Latur SP Nikhil Pingle, Maharashtra BJP MLA Abhimanyu Pawar said actions must be taken against Bachchan and Sony Entertainment Television over a question asked in the show's 'Karamveer special' episode on Friday.

Bachchan, who hosts KBC, had asked, "Dr. Ambedkar and his followers had burnt the copies of which scripture on Dec 25, 1927?"

"In 1927, Dr Ambedkar condemned the ancient Hindu text Manusmriti to ideologically justify caste discrimination and untouchability and burned its copies," Bachchan had said.

Pawar has alleged the question was intended to hurt the Hindu sentiments as all the options given to the guests of the show, Bezwada Wilson and Anup Soni, pertained to Hindu religion.
