BJP MP Adityanath sparks off fresh controversy
“In places where there are 10-20 percent minorities stray communal incidents take place. Where there are 20-40 percent of Muslims, serious communal riots take place and where they are more than 40 per cent, there is no place for non-Muslims,” he said.
Adityanath, who is one of the BJP’s key campaigners for the by-elections in Uttar Pradesh, told this to a private television channel on Sunday.
The statement raised debate with Congress leader Salman Khurshid dubbing the comments as “unfortunate”.
“I think he didn’t have any idea about what he was saying. In India, Hindus and Muslims have confidence on each other,” Khurshid said.
