New Delhi/IBNS: Hours after Jyotiraditya Scindia joined the Bharatiya Janata Party, the ruling outfit named him as their Rajya Sabha candidate from Madhya Pradesh on Wednesday.

Scindia is a four-time Lok Sabha MP.

Scindia, who was the confidante of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, was inducted to the party in presence of BJP national president Jagat Prakash Nadda.

Scindia resigned as the Congress leader on Tuesday amid his differences with the party's top brass.

Welcoming the former Guna MP, Nadda said, "This (BJP) is a very democratic party where every individual has a say. I am sure he will have his own part in the BJP."

Hitting out at the Congress, Scindia said, "The Congress is not the same anymore. It is far away from reality."

The BJP has named Bhubaneswar Kalita as its nominee for the Rajya Sabha from Assam, Vivek Thakur from Bihar, Abhay Bhardwaj and Ramilaben Bara from Gujarat as other candidates.

The party has fielded Deepak Prakash as its candidate from Jharkhand, Lieseba Maharaja from Manipur, Udayan Raje Bhosle from Maharashtra and Rajendra Gehlot from Rajasthan.

The saffron party has given one seat each to its allies RPI (A) and BPF.

Ramdas Athawale, Union Minister, will contest from Maharashtra and Buswajit Diamary from Assam, according to a statement by the party national General Secretary Arun Singh here.
