New Delhi, Apr 7 (IBNS) The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday will release its manifesto here as voting for the 2014 Lok Sabha elections has started in Assam and Tripura since morning.

"The BJP has officially attributed the delay to the fact that its leaders were busy campaigning. But, sources said, it was delayed because the BJP's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi wanted the document drafted by veteran leader Murli Manohar Joshi to be reworked for 'greater clarity and sharper focus'," reported NDTV.

Meanwhile, the nine-phase 2014 Lok Sabha elections began on Monday morning.

In the first phase, voting is being held in six constituencies of Assam and Tripura.

On Monday, voters will be deciding the fate of 51 candidates for five of the 14 seats in Assam.

Polling is being held in on of Tripura's two seats on Monday.

The parliamentary elections will be held from Apr 7 to May 12 in which the ruling United Progressive Alliance (UPA) led by the Congress will be challenged by a determined Hindu nationalist Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) that has named Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi as its PM candidate.

Voting will be held on Apr 7, Apr 9Apr 10Apr 12Apr 17Apr 24Apr 30May 7 and May 12 across a total of 543 parliamentary constituencies.

Counting will be held on May 16
