Patna: Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC)'s preliminary examination, conducted on Sunday, was cancelled within hours after the question paper got leaked.

Joint Secretary of BPSC Amrendra Kumar said here its chairman R K Mahajan had constituted a three-member inquiry committee with a directive to submit its report within 24 hours.

The directive was based on media reports about the leak of question paper of the 67th combined preliminary examination conducted on Sunday.

The committee submitted its report within hours, confirming the leak of question paper of the examination, he added.

Kumar said soon after receipt of the report confirming the paper leak, the examination was cancelled.

Action would be taken against those found guilty in the paper leak incident, he added.

There was widespread resentment among examinees after they learnt about the paper leak.

The question paper was available with several media houses and paper leak reports were carried out before the commencement of the examination.

At an examination centre in Bhojpur district, some examinees were allegedly given question papers well before the scheduled time of examination in a separate room.

Other examinees present at the centre lost their cool after they learnt about such arrangement made for some candidates and staged protests prompting the district administration to probe the incident and submit the report to BPSC.

Leader of the opposition Tejaswi Prasad Yadav, reacting to the paper leak, said that the education system had collapsed in Bihar.

The future of a large number of youths stood shattered due to the spoilt system in BPSC, he added.
