Kolkata/IBNS: British Deputy High Commissioner to Kolkata, Nicholas Low, extended his country's willingness to provide support and collaboration for the advancement of various sectors in Meghalaya.

Healthcare, tourism, and education were highlighted as potential areas of focus during the meet.

During a courteous visit to Raj Bhavan, Mr. Low engaged with Governor Phagu Chauhan, underscoring the resemblances between Meghalaya and the United Kingdom, particularly in terms of their shared natural beauty.

Drawing a parallel, he likened Meghalaya's landscape to that of Scotland.

Mr. Low also took the opportunity to apprise the Governor about the historical ties that connect the UK's province of Scotland with Meghalaya, often referred to as the "Scotland of the East."

His expression of admiration for the state's picturesque charm was accompanied by praise for the meticulous maintenance of the Raj Bhavan premises. He further conveyed his gratitude to the Governor for the warm hospitality extended during his visit.

This gesture of support and collaboration from the British Deputy High Commissioner stands to bolster the ongoing efforts towards the development and enhancement of Meghalaya's diverse sectors.
