BSF in Tripura accused of assaulting women

| @indiablooms | Nov 30, 2019, at 08:18 pm

Agartala/UNI: Tension mounted in western border of Tripura following the  allegation against BSF jawans of torturing two women yesterday at Ashabari village under Boxanagar in Sonamura area of West Tripura.

However,  the BSF has denied the allegation and said the jawans were framed in  the false case after they raised alarm against a smuggling bid by the  villagers and finally foiled it.

According  to reports, the BSF jawans noticed a group of smugglers throwing  consignments of Yaba tablets to the Bangladesh side over the Indo-Bangla  boundary near Gate no- 172 of Ashabari BOP in morning.

When the BSF jawans chased the smugglers, they reportedly entered a local house under ward no-3 of Ashabari village.

The BSF jawans started searching for the smugglers in the house when a group of women suddenly attacked them.

In their attempt to escape the sudden assault, the jawans used their batons to scatter the women.

Meanwhile, villagers alleged that the BSF jawans suddenly entered the house and beat up a woman.

Another woman of the same house was beaten severely when she reached out to rescue the victim.

Allegedly, the women were then taken near the gate but when villagers rushed to the spot, BSF jawans fled away.

Both the women were shifted to local hospital and later referred to Agartala Govt Medical College hospital.

An  FIR was lodged against the two BSF jawans involved in the incident at  Kalamchaura police station but no arrests have been made so far.
