BSF seizes gold bar from WB

Kolkata, June 19 (IBNS): The Border Security Force (BSF) on Thursday said it has seized gold bar worth over Rs. one crore from West Bengal and apprehended one person.

"On 19th    June 2014, troops of   BOP   Amudia , 152  Bn BSF seized  Gold    approx valued worth Rs. 1 crore 65 lacs from Border Oust Post Amudia   and apprehended  one    India national  namely  Sorat Gazi  , 38  Years  S/O Sohar Ali Gazi , R/O VIll – Amudia  , Gazi para   , Police Station  Swarupnagar, Dist-North 24 PGNS," the BSF said in a statement.

The  BSF informed that it's troops received an specific intelligence regarding smuggling of gold. The troops planned special operation.

"At about  0730 hrs alert BSF troops intercepted the suspect and carried out thorough search 27 Gold Biscuits ,1Gold  Bar and 8 Gold rods weighed approx 5.800 kgs which is valued worth Rs. 1 crore  65 lacs were recovered from his possession. Apprehended person has been handed over to local  police station  ,PS- Swarupnagar, Dist-North 24 PGNS for further investigation," the force said in a statement.

South Bengal Frontier of BSF has seized more than 50  kg of gold  and has apprehended 29  smugglers this year.
