Srinagar, Mar 4 (IBNS) Soldiers of the Border Security Force came upon a 30-feet secret tunnel running through the international border in Jammu and Kashmir while clearing the area of wild grass on Thursday, according to media reports.
Reportedly, the 10-feet deep tunnel was found concealed under elephant grass -- right below the border fence put up to prevent infiltration into Indian territory -- at Jammu's RS Pura sector near a post called Allah Mai De Kothey.

According to media reports, Rakesh Sharma, IG, BSF Jammu Frontier has said that the tunnel was dug for a major terror attack and it was likely that the plan was to send in infiltrators through this tunnel in the near future.

Sharma has also said that the BSF has also recorded its protest with Pakistan and that Pakistan Rangers have been asked to investigate too.

This is the fourth tunnel unearthed by the BSF in the region since 2012, according to media reports.

A 400-metre-long cross-border tunnel along the international border was found in July 2012 in the Samba sector.

In May 2014,a caved-in portion of a was found 23 metres inside the Indian territory in the Chillyari border belt in Samba sector.

In August 2014, a tunnel, 130 to 150 metres in length along the Line of Control and originating on the Pakistan side was found near a forward post along India-Pak border in Jammu's Pallanwala sector.
