Bulandshahr: Man who led attack on inspector with axe arrested
Bulandshahr, Jan 1 (IBNS): After the arrest of Prashant Nutt, the man who allegedly shot inspector Subodh Kumar Singh during the Dec 3 mob violence over cow slaughter in Uttar Pradesh's Bulandshahr, a second man, blamed for leading the fatal attack with axe, has been detained.
The man, identified as Kalua, had attacked Singh with an axe and chopped off a couple of his fingers. His attack had also led to a head injury of the police officer.
According to reports, Kalua was arrested from a bus stand on Monday night.
With this, the total number of arrests in the case has gone up to 30.
"Kalua said on December 3, he was felling a tree to block a road. When the inspector stopped him, he attacked him with an axe," Atul Kumar Srivastava, a senior police officer of Bulandshahr, told NDTV.
A mob of around 400 people had attacked Singh, who first hit him with rocks and then beat him with sticks.
Singh's car was chased to a field where he was killed.
A 20-year-old local man named Sumit also died in the violence
The police have even identified the man who snatched the service revolver from Singh.
The accused is named Johnny, who is also a resident of Bulandshahr.
Searches are currently on to trace Johnny.
The police are also on lookout for the man who allegedly instigated the attacks.
He has been identified as Yogesh Raj, who is a member of the right-wing Bajrang Dal.
Raj, in a video released earlier, had said that he was not involved in the stone-pelting and firing incident over cow slaughter that took place at Bulandshahr’s Chingrawati police chowki. He is absconding since then.
Even an Indian Army personnel named Jeetu Fauji, who belonged to a unit of the Rashtriya Rifles based in Kashmir, had been taken into custody on suspicion of killing Singh.
Singh's body was found in an SUV, which was abandoned in a field.
He was on duty to control a mob that went violent after carcasses of more than 20 cows were found in the outskirts of a village in Bulandshahr.
