CAA will be implemented after completion of precautionary Covid vaccine dose: Amit Shah
New Delhi: Union Home Minister Amit Shah Tuesday said the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) that will provide citizenship to illegal Hindu, Christian, Sikh, Buddhist, Jain, and Parsi migrants from Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan, will be implemented once the precautionary vaccination drive for Covid-19 is over, media reports said.
According to an Indian Express report, Shah gave this assurance to Leader of Opposition in West Bengal Assembly Suvendu Adhikari during a meeting to discuss the working of the BJP in the state and the organisational issues.
In the meeting held in Parliament House on Tuesday Shah told Adhikari the long pending implementation of CAA will be done once the third dose of Covid vaccination was over.
Adhikary said he also gave a list of 100 TMC leaders “who should be probed for corruption”, the report added.
CAA was passed in parliament on December 11, 2019, and got notified the next day. Despite violent protests by a section of minorities and the opposition parties, Shah has maintained that the law will be implemented.
