Can't use such language: Bombay HC slams Sanjay Raut for his remark on Kangana Ranaut
Mumbai/IBNS: The Bombay High Court on Tuesday slammed Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut over his remarks directed at Kangana Ranaut when the two engaged in a bitter war of words after the actor compared Mumbai to Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (PoK).
A division bench of Justices SJ Kathawalla and RI Chagla said: "We also don't agree with what the petitioner has said. But is this the way to address her? You are a leader. We are proud of being Maharashtrians... but is this the way to react? You have to show grace. You cannot use such language."
"We are all Maharashtrians, and proud to be Maharashtrians but we have to show grace. This is not the way," the justices added.
Raut's lawyer admitted that "the language used could have been avoided" but he insisted that the remark itself had been provoked by a "dishonest" petitioner.
The war-of-words between the Shiv Sena leader and the Bollywood star started after the latter made controversial remarks about Mumbai by comparing it to 'PoK' and 'Taliban' while slamming Sanjay Raut for the alleged threat to her.
Raut was caught on camera using an expletive during a speech against Kangana.
The 'Queen' actor had expressed concerns over her security while speaking on Sushant Singh Rajput’s death case.
The actor was then accorded Y-category security by the Centre.
