Bhopal, Jul 13 (IBNS) A 40-member team of the Central Bureau of Investigation arrives in Madhya Pradesh capital Bhopal on Monday to start probing the in the massive Vyapam recruitment scam, reports said.

Last week, the Supreme Court asked CBI  to investigate the multi-crore scam and the death of at least 36 people linked to it.

Earlier in the day,BJP chief Amit Shah landed in Bhopal giving rise to speculations about a "damage control" exercise on behalf of the Shivraj Singh Chouhan government which has been under fire of the opposition for the scam and the inexplicable parade of deaths.

The BJP has, however, said Mr Shah will only attend a day-long review meeting of a party membership drive.

Bowing to the opposition pressure, the Chief Minister last week  requested his state's High Court to order a CBI investigation into the Vyapam scam that left on its trail a series of mysterious deaths of persons-all connected to it in one way or the other.

About 2,800 people have been arrested in the Vyapam scam which allegedly involves top politicians, bureaucrats and others in arranging government jobs and admission to prestigious colleges in lieu of money.

Madhya Pradesh Governor Ram Naresh Yadav is one of those name as accused.
