Poonch, Aug 14 (IBNS): Firing with small arms took place from across the border at the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir late Wednesday night, reports said.

The fresh firing incident, ahead of the Independence Day on Friday, violated the ceasefire agreement by Pakistani troops in the Balkote area of Mendhar and Tarkundi area in Poonch.

Indian troops also retaliated. The exchange of fire continued for nearly two hours.

According to reports, there have been over 50 such firing incidents along the LoC since the Narendra Modi-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government rode to power in May this year.
