Guwahati, Sept 26 (IBNS): A high level team comprising Central and State Governments led by the advisor of Union Finance Ministry Dina Nath visited Assam on a two day visit to carry out an inspection on the ground to assess the extent of damages caused by floods and erosion in Assam.

The team on Sunday visited parts of Lower Assam and Majuli and gathered first-hand information after visiting several several flood hit areas.

The team also inspected the embankments in Majuli and the damages the recent flood had perpetrated on the embankments.

The team was deputed following the request of the State Government to the Centre for flood assistance.

It may be mentioned that Union Minister of State for Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation Sanjeev Kumar Balyan visited the State on Sept 14 and informed that an inter-ministerial team to be sent to Assam to assess the actual damages caused by flood and erosion.
