Chennai: 3 mowed down by speeding lorry

Chennai, Apr 21 (UNI) Three people, who were waiting in a bus stand, were killed when they were mowed down by a speeding lorry at Ramapuram area in the city this morning.

Police sources said three victims, came to the bus stop to board a bus to Koyambedu Mofussil Bus Terminus, when a speeding lorry, ran out of control and knocked them, killing them on the spot.

The driver, who had dozed off, abandoned the lorry and fled the  scene.

Police rushed to the spot and removed the bodies to government  hospital.

The victims were identified as Moorthy from Andhra Pradesh, Murali and Sivakumar, both natives of Krishnagiri district.

Moorthy, who was employed in a bakery, was unhappy over his job and decided to return back to his native place. He came to the bus stand to take a bus to Koyambedu, while the other came to see him off, when the mishap occurred.
