Chhattisgarh CM Bhupesh Baghel again writes to Modi for Rs 30,000 cr package
Raipur/UNI: Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel once again on Saturday wrote a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, requesting for early release of package of Rs 30,000 crore to the state.
Baghel in his letter to Prime Minister Modi said that if economic package was not approved soon at this time of economic crisis then it would not be possible to restore normal operations of the state. He demanded that financial assistance of Rs 10,000 crore should be released immediately from this package to get the state's economy back on track.
The immediate package will be helpful in taking decisions on state level regarding financial assistance to industries, businesses, workers, farmers and other activities.
The state has completed 49 days of complete lockdown till today (May 09). But given continuous increase in the number of new cases of COVID-19 infection, there seems to be little hope for complete control or elimination of this epidemic in the near future.
Prolonged lockdown has adversely affected all types of economic activities in the state creating livelihood crisis for lakhs of families.
Moreover uncertainty also looms over situation after lockdown which ends on May 17. In order to dispel uncertainty it is necessary to take all necessary precautions and gradually start economic activities. In such a situation, it would be appropriate that full powers should be delegated to the states for carrying out various economic activities within the state.
