CISCE head suspended

New Delhi, July 13 (IBNS): The Indian School Certificate Examination (CISCE) has suspended its chief executive officer (CEO) and secretary Gerry Arathoon on charges of malpractice, media reports said on Sunday.

"There are allegations that Arathoon's wife has written an English work book, which despite never being placed in the executive body of the council for approval received CISCE's nod," Hindustan Times reported.

Arathoon was show-caused after the incident came to light earlier.

According to reports, CISC chairperson Father José Içara, was however, was not satisfied with his reply.

The council has given Arathoon 15 days to give his reply.

"There is no time limit for the suspension. Immediately after the council receives the reply, the executive committee will take it up to decide on the future course of action," Nobarun De, member of the executive council of CISCE, was quoted as saying by Hindustan Times.

The council conducts the  ICSE and ISC exams.
