CJI Ranjan Gogoi recommends Justice SA Bobde as his successor

New Delhi/IBNS: Chief Justice of India (CJI) Ranjan Gogoi has recommended Justice Sharad Arvind Bobde as his successor, media reports said.

In a letter to the Ministry of Law and Justice, the CJI has recommended to the government to start the process of appointing Justice Bobde as his successor.

CJI Gogoi, who sworn in on Oct 3, 2018, will retire on Nov 17.

Ahead of his retirement, the Supreme Court is likely to pass the verdict on the politically-sensitive Ayodhya case which pertains to whether Ram Temple can be built in the disputed land of Ayodhya.
