Coalgate summons: Sonia Gandhi, Cong leaders march to ex- PM Manmohan Singh's residence
They started the march after gathering at the party headquarters in the national capital.
"Dr. Manmohan Singh ji is a former PM,he is known not only in our country but throughout the world as a man of integrity. We are here to offer our support and solidarity to him. The Congress party is fully behind him. We shall fight this legally with all our means at our command...We are sure and convinced that he will be vindicated," Gandhi told reporters.
In a shocking development in the coal block allocation scam, Manmohan Singh has been summoned by a special Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) court in the Hindalco case.
Singh has been summoned as an accused along with five others in a case.
The court has also named Hindalco, its chairman Kumar Mangalam Birla, and former coal secretary PC Parakh among the six accused.
They have all been summoned to appear in court on April 8.
The CBI has levelled some strong charges against the former PM including criminal conspiracy, corruption and breach of trust.
Singh said that that a fair trial will establish his "total innocence".
"I respect the judicial process of this country. I hope in any fair trial I will be able to establish my total innocence," the former PM told NDTV.
