Bengaluru, Apr 24 (UNI): Karnataka High Court today granted conditional bail to Kampli Congress MLA J N Ganesh who was accused of allegedly attacking his fellow party MLA Ananda Singh in a resort in the city, after he spent over 90 days in judicial custody.

The Single Bench Judge Justice B A Patil granted bail to Ganesh asking him to present Rs two lakh personal bond and two sureties of equal amount.

After the incident Ganesh went missing for nearly one month and was arrested from a hotel in Ahmadabad in Gujarat by the State police and procured before a court here on February 20. He was in judicial custody since then.

Ganesh would released from Central Jail at Parappana Agrahara today or tomorrow.

The incident occurred early this year when the Congress MLAs were taken to the five-star resort in the outskirts of the city due to threat of ‘Operation Lotus’ by the BJP to lure them to quit the seats and trigger the fall of Janata Dal(S)-Congress Coalition government.

Ganesh was denied bail by lower Peoples Representatives Court where the initial trial was held after the incident of physical attack was reported.

During the fracas in the resort past midnight, Ganesh allegedly assaulted Anand Singh harming him physically and was arrested by the police and was denied bail by the lower court.
