Congress questions appointment of Rawat as new Indian Army chief

New Delhi, Dec 18 (IBNS): The Congress on Sunday questioned the appointment of Lt General Bipin Rawat as the new Indian Army chief.

"Why has Seniority not been respected in Aptt.of Army Chief?Why have Lt Gen PRAVIN Bakshi & Lt Gen Mohamed Ali Hariz been superseded Mr PM?" Congress leader Manish Tewari tweeted.

"Gen Rawat is not third but fourth senior most. Even Lt Gen BS Negi Army commander Central Command is senior to him ? Why Mr PM" he said.

Lt General Bipin Rawat has been appointed as the next chief of the Indian Army, reports said.

He belongs to the  5th Battalion of 11th Gorkha Rifles.

He will step into the shoes of  Indian Army chief General Dalbir Singh.

He will retire on Dec 31.

Air Marshal BS Dhanoa has bben appointed as the next chief of the  Indian Air Force.
