Congress Yuva Magazine mocks Prime Minister Modi with Meme, deletes post
New Delhi, Nov 21 (IBNS): The political scenario of India witnessed a major controversy when Yuva Desh, Indian Youth Congress's online magazine, attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi over his English speaking skills.
In its Twitter handle, the magazine put up a picture where Modi could be seen speaking with US President Donald Trump and UK Prime Minister Theresa May.
In the edited picture, Modi could be seen asking the other two leaders if they knew about the 'memes' put against him by opposition leaders.
The PM could be seen being corrected about the actual pronunciation of 'memes' an then advised to 'sell tea'.
The tweet has been deleted amid criticisms.
Gujarat CM Vijay Rupani slammed the post and tweeted: "This blatantly classist and anti-poor Tweet by the Youth Congress shows their mindset towards India’s poor. Does Crown Prince @OfficeOfRG support this? ."
Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah called it a ' political suicide' committed by the Congress.
"What is about elements of the Congress party that commit political suicide with such amazing regularity? This tweet is in such poor taste," he said.
Union Health Minister JP Nadda tweeted: "A tweet can be deleted but not the mentality which brands masses as 'Cattle class' & 'Mango people'. They can’t fathom a ‘Chaiwala’ leading the nation. Gujarat Shall Answer!!"
Congress leader Randeep S Surjewala said his party disapproved such a post.
"INC strongly disapproves & rejects such humour through memes. Differences on policy and opinion aside, Congress culture imbibes respect for PM and all political opponents," he said.
