Court slams CBI for submitting closure report in coal scam

New Delhi, Oct 14 (IBNS): A Delhi special court on Tuesday slammed the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) by rejecting its closure report in a coal scam case, reports said.

The federal investigating agency was expected to file a charge sheet.  Instead it filed a closure report.

The court, in its 31-page order, said the CBI investigation had been sketchy and was more of a defence given by accused. It also said that there was hardly any understanding of the facts, sources said.

The First Information Report (FIR) pertained to the allocation of coal blocks to Kamal Sponge Steel and Power Limited and involved former coal secretary HC Gupta.

The court also asked all the people named in the FIR, including Gupta, to appear before it as accused, reports said.
