COVID-19: Centre extends ban on landing of international flights till Apr 14

New Delhi/IBNS: The Centre on Thursday extended the ban on the landing of all international commercial flights in India till April 14 to prevent the spread of novel Coronavirus.

Earlier, the government had banned the landing of all international commercial flights in India for a week beginning on Mar 22.

In a fresh travel advisory, the Centre stated: "It has been decided that all scheduled international commercial passenger services shall remain closed till 1830 hours GMT of April 14, 2020."

The Centre has, however, exempted the international cargo flights from this ban and also the special ones approved by the Directorate of Civil Aviation (DGCA).

This comes as India on Thursday entered into the second day of nationwide-lockdown, called by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to combat the spread of COVID-19, which will remain effective till Apr 14 midnight.

So far in India, 657 people have been infected.

13 people have died due to the deadly Coronavirus.
