COVID-19: Partial lockdown imposed in Nagpur; Schools, colleges to remain shut in till Mar 7

Nagpur/UNI: Partial lockdown has been imposed in Maharashtra’s Nagpur to contain the surge in COVID-19 cases in the city amid a rise in the cases of the coronavirus disease, State Energy minister and Nagpur guardian minister Nitin Raut made this announcement on Monday.

On the backdrop of the rapid surge in COVID-19 cases in the district the administration has decided to keep school, colleges in the district closed till March 7.

Main markets will remain shut for the public on weekends (Saturdays and Sundays) in Nagpur.

Hotels and restaurants can run to run with only 50 per cent capacity.

Marriage halls will be closed after February 25 till March 7.

All religious, cultural and political programmes will remain shut till March 7.

The number of COVID-19 cases in Nagpur rose by 626 to reach 1,43,133 on Sunday, while the day also witnessed 8 deaths and 455 recoveries were also reported.

The death toll in the district stands at 4,275 and the recovery count stands at 1,32,861, leaving it with an active caseload of 5,997.
