Kolkata/IBNS: Nandita Sinha, wife of Trinamool Congress (TMC)'s Khardaha candidate Kajal Sinha, who had succumbed to Covid-19 days ago, on Wednesday registered a complaint of culpable homicide with Khardah Police Station in North 24 Parganas against Deputy Election Commissioner Sudeep Jain and other officials of the poll body, reports said.

According to reports, Nandita Sinha has lodged the case against the Election Commission of India (ECI) officials for allegedly not ensuring 'safety of candidates or general public' during the ongoing polls amid the second wave of the pandemic.

Taking the matter to social media, TMC spokesperson and Rajya Sabha MP Derek O'Brien tweeted: "Enough is enough. Trinamool candidate Kajal Sinha recently died of Covid. His wife files CULPABLE HOMICIDE charge on Sudip Jain, senior official of the Election Commission of India."

Earlier on Sunday morning, 59-year-old TMC candidate in Khardaha assembly seat, Kajal Sinha, succumbed to Covid-19 in a Kolkata hospital, days after election was held in his constituency.
