Srinagar, Nov 4 (IBNS) In view of the 10 Muharram processions during the day, the district administration of Srinagar in Jammu and Kashmir has decided to impose restrictions in various areas of the city on Tuesday.

According to reports, the district authorities after taking stock of the situation, decided to put curbs on civilian movements in various
areas of the Srinagar city including MR Gunj, Khaniyar, Nowhatta, Safa Kadal and Rainawari.

A spokesman of the district administration said that restrictions will be imposed in these areas with the curbs on the vehicular movement also.

Jammu and Kashmir government on Sunday imposed a curfew in several parts of the region ahead of Muharram processions.

Since 1989, Muharram processions have been disallowed in Srinagar after a pro-independence revolt started in Kashmir.

Only small mourning rallies and processions are allowed in selected areas with limited Shi'ite populations.
